Firearms Content Writer and Editor
Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for a Digital Content Writer and Editor who is passionate and enthusiastic about history and guns. This vital role shows off creative writing and editing talents and gun knowledge while increasing brand awareness through various digital platforms. Spending most of the time writing, editing, and proofing digital content to reach target audiences from all corners of the world, this position is the writing and editing team champion for digital marketing projects. RIAC standard hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST with overtime and weekend hours, as needed. Being a team member with a premier auction house requires weekend work for six (6) auction weekends each year.

What does a typical day for Digital Content Writer and Editor look like?

Writes, edits, and proofs digital content with passion and enthusiasm for firearms and history as well as industry terminology;
Proofs digital content with meticulous consideration and keen eye for grammatical errors while ensuring content aligns with internal strategy, guidelines, and quality standards from concept to completion;
Strengthens brand with creative and exemplary writing and editing skills while maintaining company voice across multiple platforms and for various target audiences; and
Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to produce appealing content for niche audiences while ensuring timely execution for meeting deadlines.

Qualified candidates meet the following requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field required;
Two (2) years’ minimum previous relevant work experience, both writing and editing, required;
Knowledge of firearms;
Proven work experience proficiently using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Access); and
Professional portfolio with writing submissions or assignments demonstrating writing and editing skills.
