The Shipping & Warehouse Associate efficiently prepares and packs auction items for timely shipment to buyers after auction. This position plays a critical role to deliver customer service excellence by meeting company standards to ensure auction items do not suffer damage during shipment/transit. They will also spend time with special carpentry projects around the facility, assist with setting up our preview floor before auctions, and work on general building maintenance.

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week with overtime and weekend hours, as needed. RIAC standard hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST.

- Performs general handyman duties approximately 60% of the time, including use of power tools, hand tools, and basic repairs.
- Builds custom wooden crates for shipping auction items.
- Prepares, packs, and ships items post-auction with attention to safety, quality, and customer service standards.
- Assists with auction setup, including layout planning, display assembly, and safe handling of firearms, props, and display racks.
- Supports on-site auctions by providing customer service, acting as building security, and managing item handling before, during, and after events.
- Completes general warehouse duties such as painting, cleaning, sweeping, and inventory movement.
- Assists with transporting auction items as needed.
- Works required overtime and six (6) auction weekends per year.
- Participates in auction teardown and item security alongside a large team.
- Travels occasionally for training, with minimal or advance notice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates meet the following requirements:
- Willingness to learn and follow all firearm safety rules, general safety procedures, and follow ATF and other regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrates professional conduct, strong work ethic, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Prioritizes customer service excellence and collaborates effectively with all levels of staff.
- Takes initiative, maintains confidentiality, and exercises discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Handles tools, equipment, and auction items with care, precision, and respect.
- Comfortable operating computers, office equipment, and hand tools safely and properly.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and highly self-motivated.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools required; ability to read blueprints/schematics is a plus.
- Ability to estimate cost, time, and materials for construction-related tasks.
- Willing to travel occasionally with minimal overnight stays.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior handyman or construction experience required.
- Similar work experience in a warehouse, auction, or related setting highly preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
- Valid non-CDL driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
Routinely moving and transporting up to 50 pounds. Traversing and moving for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain moving and transporting consignor items. Must be able to constantly communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, observe, perceive and assess auction production operations. Constantly operates and uses computer and other relevant equipment and office machinery. Typically works in climate-controlled environment but may be exposed to outdoor climate while performing other duties as needed. Constantly works with and around firearms, bladed weaponry, and valuable collectibles.
