Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for professional and reliable Video Editor. Responsible for driving our online presence to the highest number of potential consignors and clients, the video editor spends much of the day developing, creating, and implementing videos for use on the Web and other digital and social media channels. RIAC standard hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST with weekly pay every Thursday. The pay starts at $21.11/hour with opportunities for overtime and weekend work as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Plans, writes, films, audio engineers, edits, and distributes digital video files for marketing and communications projects
- Films and edits events and social content
- Inputs music, dialogue, graphics, and effects to various pieces
- Maintains productivity while managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Communicates regularly with key stakeholders and departments to ensure vision is being captured
- Ensures creative assets adhere to company guidelines and voice
- Continuously discovers new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximize efficiency
- Handles inventory/collectables in a safe and respectful manner
- Required to work auction weekends (approximately 3 per year)
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to see projects through from conceptualization to completion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, digital technologies and editing software
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Positive attitude with a creative mind
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Superb storytelling skills
- Knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and customer focus
- BA/BS in journalism, film studies, communications, or other related degree preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of video editing experience required
- Portfolio of relevant video editing, motion graphics and production projects required
- Basic fundamentals of cinema camera use required (no cell phone or GoPro use only)
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, with occasional bending, kneeling and stooping. Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds. Must be able to safely climb ladders on occasions. Use of hands to reach and feel. Reads and writes, speaks and hears. Works with and around products associated with firearms.
